Default Need Help With Erlandson Scrambler Clutch

I just bought a bunch of stuff for my scrambler 500 4x4. I installed the erlandson sport utility clutch kit successfully. I set it on what the directions said to do on the secondary pully. It said to put the spring on the 2nd hole of the helix and the third on the pully. However the performance was horrible. On take off a bicycle could beat me, and it the belt would slip and make a grinding noise. However after experimenting with it every thing works great on the system by putting the spring in the first hole on the helix and the third on the pully. I just want to know if anybody else has had this problem and what setting they use. Also need to know if the diff. size sprocket would effect the 4wd and why im leaking gas out of the bottom hose on carb. Also need tips on installing jets.

it is because the stiffer the spring's pulley is,the more the belt will slip, but you'll get better upshifting, while the spring is softer,it will
slip less and better backshifting.
