Does anyone know if a 1997 to 2000 XR400 counter sprocket will work on a 1999 400 ex? I would like to go to a 14T but my local dealer said they are on back order. They do have a 14T for a XR400.

I just put a 14 tooth on my 400EX, and boy does it pull now. I have the WB rev box on it to, i would reccomend this so you can wind it up a little higher. I used to be able to get the front end up a little in third gear, now with 14 tooth i can get it staight up in third. Better response all through the powerband too!

If ever you'll be using the XCT'S try it with a 13/39 combination you will love it too.

Sprocket Specialists also sells several sprockets for the 400EX. I bought the 14 tooth sprocket ($21.00) and it greatly improves 2nd gear, not to mention pulling a wheelie while stopped in first gear.

I put a 14 tooth on my 400ex and was disapointed in the climbing. big sand mountains face I can climb with my 15 tooth but not my 14. this could be also the paddles (20" 7 paddle skattrak) since I spin all the way up. any ideas appreciated.

I would check with "AIR" concerning sand dunes and your 400ex.
