Default 99 scrambler 400 4x4 not quite right... any suggestions?

hey i just got my 99 scrambler 400 4x4 used from a dealer. I live in the foot hills in NC. The guy that traded it in took good care of it its in great shape, he got the stainless steel rims and all, but it just doesnt have much pep at all. When i gas it goes but theres really no power to it and the power only really comes on about mid range and then it tops out way to early. Also every now and then it'll pull really hard to the left, if i turn the wheels all the way that way it stops and is normal again. I'm new to polaris' so i have no idea how their clutch system works at all. Any websites that explain this?

Try a new belt and see if that makes a difference. It definately sounds like something in the clutching. Also, I think that your stainless steel rims are actually aluminum. Polaris didn't make stainless steel rims, that I am aware of.

Dont put a sportsman belt on it. I ran a SP700 belt on mine without trouble, but I replaced it with a stock spliceless belt because I found out that it can damage the clutches over time. If you plan on doinf some engine mods, then you can get a Gates kevlar belt from Napa. Gates #19AT4090
