To get to the needle you pull out the 2 allen screws on the very top of the carb and remove the cover. When the cover is removed you will see a gold allen screw down in there. Take out the gold allen screw and you will see the needle underneath it. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and remove the needle to make changes. The pilot jet can be changed by taking out the plug in the bottom of the carb. It is located by the main jet and you will need a small straight blade screwdriver to remove it. You do not have to take the float bowl off to change the pilot jet just remove the plug at the bottom with a 17mm wrench and you will see it located by the main jet.

You do not need to take the carb all the way out, just turn it sideways. I removed the airbox then pulled the carb back from the engine, that gives you enough room to turn it. Turn the bottom towards the shifter side and then you can access the top from the other side. i took off the side plastic to make it easier while doing the top. you probably need to grind about 1/8 inch off the top of the needle if you go down to #6.
