Kawasaki Bayou 220
#2
Hi Nathan,
I can't answer your question. But, have you thought it through? Do you really want to tinker with a Bayou 220? What do you want to change it into? I mean, it is pretty well designed for its own purpose. It is light- weight, maneuverable, mechanically simple, and it handles terrain pretty well. I have seen my wife navigate over some really tough terrain that more experienced riders on racing bikes had trouble negotiating. We wouldn't dream of changing it, but that's just us.

Nathan,
I must agree with the previous comments. I also own a Bayou 220 and like it for it's smaller size and soft ride. I consider it as being a pure utility quad for smaller riders (I'm 5'-8") with no desire to tackle heavy work loads. I would call it the "Toyota Pickup" (which I also happen to own) of ATVs. It provides solid and dependable transportation at an attractive price.

Hey Nathan
I have to agree with the other replys i own a Bayou and it works just fine for what i do if you want to go faster or have more power by a differant quad. if you want more performance buy a K&N filer and maybe a pipe but thats all i would ever do to it. A lift kit ? Yer not thikin about puttin oversized tires on it for more clearance they would be too big for the machine and engine load would be very high

I really like the Bayou 220. I like Kawasaki products, but as you can see from the "We're Being Ripped Off" topic, I detest Kawasaki's parts pricing tactics.
I am 6-2 and weigh 230 pounds. I have a 00 King Quad 300 4X4, which I usually ride, but I have put a few miles on the Bayou and enjoyed it. It has a good ride and good power and can take you about anywhere you want to go. My wife loves it, and she can ride it places that 4X4s don't like. With a small motor and light weight, the Bayou also gives you the benefit of good gas mileage.
Its a great little Quad!

if ur talking about making ur bayou fast i found a big bore kit at www.shindypro.com. i would put a big bore kit, k&n air filter, and maybee a cobra exaust pipe so it will sound awsome. u could get the k&n maybee out of a magazine such as (dirtwheeles) and u can get the cobra from there to. i wouldnt but a diff lock on it.
