Default Polaris sportsman 400

I just purchaced a 1997 Polaris sportsman 400. Seems to be in nice condition, but was wondering if there are any problem areas that I should check out before going out for a ride. Never owned a polaris before. Any help will be apreciated as well as any modifications you may have done to improve your bike.

Thanks

Check ALL the fluids including the counter balance and clean the air filter(check the airbox and boots for cracks)

also check your chain cuz chains go bad about every 3 years and if your chain brakes you might blow your motor
