v force blowing fuses
#1
i race in the wnyoa harescramble series and the gncc's. the problem i'm having is i keep blowing the 30 amp fuse in my bike. this weekend i was running a local race and was leading my class, when i tipped the quad on it's side and blew a fuse.
last week the quad was dead when i unloaded. after messing with it and changing 4 blown fuses, the problem went away. but now it's back.
my question is, what does the fuse control? do i have a pinched wire? short somewhere? any help would be great. my v forse has taking a whippin this year and would like to finish the year strong, but right now the quad is hindering me and my finishes.
thanks...

I blew this same fuse but it happened when I was very low on gas and was riding a wheelie and when i came down the thing just died. I took it to a dealer and left it a day and they couldn't figure out how it happened.

Yes, I would say it is those wires under the seat. I blew mine the first week I had it, and after I found where the wire had been pinched and scraped open a little bit I put lots of electrical tape around it to insulate it and cushion it. The seat clearance is almost nil, so it is important to wrap these wires to keep them from rubbing on impacts like rolling, coming off a wheelie, etc.

Same thing happened to me while riding out in Shamokin, PA. The Speedballs I was riding with diagnosed the short, taped the wires and replaced the fuse (thanks Dr. Yucha). Now I carry a good number of extra 30 amp fuses with me. Kawasaki should have a recall to fix this bug.

That happened to me 3 months ago on a trip to NY. I found the first group (if looking from behind) of wires that go to the cdi had rubbed on the frame and shorted out. For a temporary fix just tape it until you can pull the pin from the connector and put shrink tubing over it. That is were I found my short and two others. I hope this helps.

bigkawi forgot to mention he has more miles upside down then shinny side up. hehehe j/k. however, he did win a wnyoa harescramble 2 weeks ago, after going over the bars not once, but twice !! maybe that has something to do w/ your electrical problems?
