400 express porting

Default 400 express

just picked up a 400 express and bored it 20 over and would like to find some specs on porting it i`m in the works of getting head shaved and shaped but i would like to port it myself thanx

You can use the same porting specs as what is used for the 400 Scrambler. I am sure someone here will have that.

If nothing else just smooth out the castings on the exhaust and polish the head and put in some good reeds.

Hey my 400 set up the way it is will out do a 500 HO .

hey any one have some before and after pics on there port jobs?

ftwflh my buddy has a 400 explorer and we put a 180 main jet and thats it now i have a hell of a time pulling away from him till we hit top speed i use to be able to walk all over him like it was nothing his is stock even the tires (bald) mine has k&n filter new spring and bear claw tires on my 02 500 HO plus i must have 80lb on him. now my 400 is 20 over head just bean reshaped,shaved,polished polaris piston tsl vampire tires and i wll get some reeds so i hope it goes good when i get it together

That 180 jet sounds a little on the lean side.I run a 260 on my 400 but it is piped.Stock is either 200 or 210.

i hear that is what they run up here my 400 has 190 main and just got back together today will take it for a rip soon 200ft is not enough as far as the porting i lowered my intakes abit and polished my exhaust head was done looks like a mirror just need the time to ride it now thanx for the info guys
