I've got less than 80 miles on new EBC pads - front and back - on my y2k trailboss and the backs are already gone. The rotors on front and back are all chewed up after 1 ride. Polaris says its the pads . Anyone know what could be happening here ???

If your pads are worn down, then that explains the rotors. What type of riding did you do to wear them down so fast?

I run severse duty EBC pads on my Scrambler 500, and ours and friend's Sportsamn 500. With exception to my fisrt set of rear pads, all have been working fine.

Quadman - did you get a bad set ?? I'm afraid to get another pair to put on new rotors. But I don't want to keep paying $60 for Polaris pads. Although the fronts are hardly worn, the rotors are also very rough. I bought the front and back EBC pads from 2 different places, makes me wonder if EBC's will ever work.

Guys,

If the last set of pads chewed into the rotors from not being changed on time, the rough rotors will cut the next set off in no time flat!! Get those rotors cleaned up, or replace them, then the pads will last as they should. The EBC pads are very good. Once you get new pads on there, with smooth rotors, monitor the pad wear regularly so you don't end up in this situation again.

Also remember that the front calipers have an adjustment set screw that must be adjusted correctly when the new pads are installed.

I would call or e-mail EBC and explain the problem. They have good customer service. If they don't try to improve the situation, maybe they can at least offer some advice.

Good luck.

EBC makes 3 types of pads Kevlar, sinterd iron and carbon. EBC says the carbon works best on motorcrossers and other dirt bikes but admit they wont last long, that may be the type you were sold. If you want long lasting pads I would give the kevlar a try. Rotors from Polaris are relativley inexpensive depending on the model and can not be turned.
