I just got my Pred back today from the dealer because it was getting new piston rings and valves put in under warrenty because of my airbox cracking and breaking out of the frame. So we brought it home and I unloaded it and took it up to our driveway to wash it (it was pretty dirty when I took it in). I was going up and noticed it wasnt shifting right. I parked it and tried shifting and my shifter is sticking down when I down shift and up when I upshift. Its shifting very notchy and like I said, the shifter sticks up and down, BAD! What should I do? This is like the millionth thing I would be calling my dealer on. Give me your advice on this!

 

wish I could help you but I have no idea. I know it sucks to have to bug the dealer again, but the sooner you bug them, the better. Otherwise they may think, "what did you do to it now?" if they don't already think that. All I can say is the sooner you report it the better.

Does anybody else have an idea on what this could be?

 

A bent shifter shaft is a possibility, did it do it before you took it to the dealer? If they had it apart it may be an assembly problem...

 

No it didnt do this before I took it in.
