Ive been muddy water up to my fenders and it did just fine. For pure gooey mud, about 3/4 way up my tires with water covering them. My tires ar ehte stock size, 23" front and 22" rear

My dad's scrambler has gone through mud up past his tires, while dragging his skid plate. As long as it's in 4WD the axle clearance hasn't seemed to be an issue.

I haven't had a problem yet. The 4x4 will pull you through almost anything. A 3" taller rear tire would raise it 1.5" But them you would have to go with a 4" taller front tire to keep the 1" difference between the front and rear tires for the 4wd to work correctly

Please answer this question and also is the front end of a 4x4 scrambler chain driven too.

No, the front end of a scrambler is not chain driven, it's is axel driven. As I have a scrambler 500, let me tell you it is great in mud and not to bulky in mud as a Sportsman 500. Also the plus of getting a rear axcel driven bike is the rear axcel doubles as a winch. I can give you more deatails on the winch idea if you need.
