Default Big Guy Buying a Utility ATV: Follow-up

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded to my post about buying an ATV. The information that I received here was very helpful.

Anyway, after riding as many of the ATVs on my list as I could, I finally made the purchase. You might be surprised to find out that I ended buying a new Bombardier 400XT Outlander (red). After riding a lot of ATVs I just really liked how this one rode and performed. It seems to have a lot of power even though it's only a 400cc. I actually went into the dealership intending to buy a Grizzly! My brother was with me when I bought it and he ended buying an Outlander too (identical to mine but green). So we left the dealership with two of them.

So far I'm really happy with it. I've been reading on the Bombardier section of the forum that there have been a few problems with this machine. Overall it seems like a pretty nice unit though. If any of you have any comments on my decision or recommendations for upgrades to my Oultlander, I'd sure like to hear what you have to say.

Thanks again! I'm sure I'll be reading this forum often now. I've found that it's a valuable resource.

Congrats on your new purchase. I don't know too much about the Bomb. except it seems to have gotten good reviews in the mags. I've crawled around them but haven't had a chance to ride one. I think they are a little faster than other 400's and are supposed to have a decent 4 wheel drive system. I don't really care for it's appearance but that is me. I do think that the front and rear bumpers add to the appearance of the XT and provide much needed protection in wooded areas. Red is also a very good color. (My quad is red) Good luck with your new quad. Enjot it!

Upgrades- I think that the XT comes with the bumpers and winch doesn't it? You really don't need much more. Maybe some more aggresive tires after the stock tires have worn out. The belly is decently covered with the new frame so you don't really need skids. I guess the tires are the only thing I'd upgrade eventually.

I'm glad to hear you made your decision. I've read good things about the Outlander in magazines. They really like it. I've never rode one but i'm sure it lives up to all the good press it gets. CONGRATS!!!
