Default Polaris SP700 engine delima

After 10 long months with a disturbing coolant leak from the waterpump area, the Polaris customer service supervisor and I have finally come to an agreement. Seems that I ruffled enough feathers by contacting the GM for the Polaris atv division,a few others, then finally Tom Tiller's office. To make a long story short, I had a waterpump leak since day one 11/5/2002, the unit was born on 6/27/2002(ex-wife's birthday). The dealer did the update, then the waterpump seals inner & out, 2 mounting plates, finally a new pump shaft. It is on it's 5th visit to the dealer for a problem they can't seem to fix, I contacted my attorny and it qualifys as a lemon. Each time its been to the dealer I have been without it for 3 weeks at a time, a total of 5 months out of the 10 I've owned it. I told Joan Harland the Polaris CSS that she had three choices, replace mine with a new one(which i'm entitled to and knew I would't get), replace my engine with a brand new one and give me another 6 month warranty, or I would let my attorny get my money back and then some. Well the new engine is being shipped right now. My machine only has 140 miles and I know the main problem with this issue is the dealer thats working on it. Not only are they the one's that caused some of the problems it took my time in ruffling feathers to get some action. Thanx for letting me rant.

I know exactly how you feel. I bought a new 2003 bombardier 650 quest in October, it went back to the dealer at least 4 times ( lost count). Your warrnaty is only as good as your dealer, in some cases, like mine, sometimes you do not have a warranty, even with a new machine.

P.S. Never buy from relatives.

The dealer was ready to give me a new machine to make this problem go away, it was Polaris who was spinning their wheels. Being in the auto repair field for 20 years I see alot of things that some people try to get away with, this includes the dealer. Working on Mercedes I'm really **** about how I do my job and unfortunatly some people don't take pride in their work, thats why I hate warranty's in a way because I can't work on my own stuff. Since knowing the dealer is responsable for most of the problem due to incompetance, I wish Polaris would send the new engine to me and let me install it.

I filed a law suit against polaris on my 2002 700. It took about a year and I finally got offered a new 2004 for replacement or my money back. I took my money.....Needless to say polaris was a pain in my rear on this issue. I wish they backed their products better!!!!Hope all turns out well for you..Good Luck!!

Hey Cob,
The person I spoke to was Joan Harlan the customer service supervisor. Like you I had a very bad experience with a customer service rep so I decided to take it a step further and go to the top person. She was very helpful in trying to get me back on my machine. I did mention your problem to her but didn't know all the details of your problem. She seems to try and work with the tech dept to try and resolve issues. With the mechanical experience I have I knew the only way to get to the bottom my problem was to send my engine to the tech dept. and let them diesect piece by piece. After 10 months and only 140 miles as a consumer I was getting really upset at the fact that my machine had been to the dealer so many times. Hopefully I will be getting it back in the next couple of days. It has been over a month since I've seen it.
By the way how far are you from Leadville? I have a friend here in San Antonio that has 50 acres and a cabin there. I'm going to spend a few days there in October.

BIGKID thanks for the info I will be useing it for sure. I should be getting the motor back real soon along with the guilty parts, I will then give her a call. If this was an isolated problem I would take my lumps and move along but with several more of the same I feel that at least the cost of parts wouldn't be asking to much. Of course sure that POLARIS thinks differently. The responce that I got from the gal at CUSTOMER SERVICE was less than satisfactory, I guess I really maybe expected to much.
