Guys I know of this mod being done on my friends banshee to help it rev faster. I thought that this would be a perfect mod for the "slower reving" Raptor. What do ya think? Has anyone tried this, and would it cause any adverse effects? I was thinking of getting maybe 3-5oz shaved off. As always opinions are appreciated.

 

I tried it when my motor was stock and even though it reved faster it STALL alot and wasn't worth the faster reving for it always stalling! So I had them add the weight back and rebalance. Maybe with a built motor and more compression it would work better but I would not do it again.

Pat, how much did you get it shaved? I'm certain theres a Fine line between rev and stall proness.

I rode my friends Yfz last weekend, and that thing revs so fast. Just like the dirt bike version. I know it has alot to do with rotating mass, and 450cc in comparison to 660, but I was just looking at other possiblities to up the revs on the rappy. Thanks again.

Raptor already has a pretty light rotating mass. It would rev faster if it could breather better. My warrior revs much much faster after getting a mosnter cam and a higher compression piston.

 

One thought (not cheap) on how to let your Rappy rev faster and higher without breaking anything - get the Titanium rod. Then shave a little weight off the counterbalancer to smooth things out. That should work well. If you shave the flywheel all you have to do to keep from stalling is to launch from full throttle all the time. It is FUN, but not good for any type of trail riding!

A good cheap way to try it out before replacing the rod or shaving the fly wheel would be to remove the one way assembly and have some one pull start you. That thing probably weighs a good pound. I have been swearring I am going to try it, then if I like it have my fly wheel shaved...but I haven't....yet.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
