defuser disks
#1
First of all, i have no idea how to spell defuser, lol, anyway, i am wondering how much of a difference in sound can be had if you take, lets say a wb pipe, and run all disks versus a few. The reason i ask this is because i am in the process of building a 440ex and in some of the areas i ride in , noise is a big concern. So in short, 12 disks Vs. 2 disks, how much difference in sound?

i have ran both white brothers systems and supertrapp and they both use diffuser discs.you probably wouldnt want to go with fewer than 6 discs but the difference between 6 and say 12 or 14 is very noticeable as far as sound level is concerned.if you make too much of a change in the amount of discs that you run your jetting can be thrown off enough so that it will make performance suffer so i would keep that in mind.i would jet your quad for a reasonable level of performance and sound with a certain amount of discs and then try not to vary the number of discs you run by more than three or four at the most.

On a Supertrapp system the difference in sound of 12 disk versus 2 disks is pretty considerable....as far as performance, I know that fewer disks gives you more bottom end (and vice versa) but unless you're really in tune with how your ride acts then you probably won't notice.
