SP 700 Problems
#1
Whoops on last message.
Anyway I have 2003 700 and I can't get it to work right for me. The problems that I am having is it won't go over 35 mph. This is what I have in it so far.
Big Gun Pipe
EPI Clutch Kit
Moose Jet Kit
27inch Titan 589 MT's
2 inch highlifter kit
When I Put the Pipe on I lost some power so I called and was told that a clutch kit was needed. So I got the EPI Sport Utility clutch kit and gained a little back. I got the tires and a highlifter kit and then lost alot of power due to the tires I am guessing. Back on the phone with EPI they tell me that I need a black secondary spring so I get that now I am at 35mph and get back on the phone again and order a moose jet kit. I install that and now if I let it idle it loads up and it still won't go over 35. I put my blue spring (secondary) in that came with the clutch kit in the first place and gain a little speed but my belt slips. What can I do to get the low end torque and some speed out of this. Is there that much difference between the utility clutch kit and the big wheel kit cause when I got the kit I wasn't going to get the oversize tires. Thanks for any help.

hey man, i just purchaced a 04 700 put 27 589 tires on it ,hot seat purformance kit (header, pipe, clutch kit ,air cleaner raised the needle one clip ,175 main i think a 170 works better drilled out pilot jet from a 31 to 32 and could go bigger.the thing will pull a 20 foot wheely at thirty degrees in low on pavement.and will still do 60.eats my buddys 04 700 that is stock. next is a cam 42 or 38 carb and some head work.

What is the primary tube diameter on your hotseat header? Does it fit good? Did you keep the stock muffler? Is it louder than stock? How long does it take to get to your top speed? Just curious about some opinions from a customer rather than the manufacturer.
Thanks for any help

the header fits pretty good, the muffler is a bit loud.i am going to try it with stock mufler.1 7/8 pipe.i did not find i lost much power after i put 27 589 tires on took a bit longer to get to top speed, then i put kit on .you have to remove the stock snorkel on air cleaner because it is very restrictive take your jet kit out, dont need it.drill out your pilot with a 32 or 33 #drill raise your needle one or even two notches put a 175 main to be safe i like the 170 better ,it takes a little longer to get to top speed but midrange makes up for it,the clutch comes in at a little higher rpm.i just read that if you take out the plastic spacer on primary side of clutch you get more top speed because the belt can move farther increasing your gear ratio.i just ordered a head to flow ,put bigger valves etc.i build and race a pro gas harley so i am always looking for power.also i think a 38 mm carb(not cv) would work awsome, bigger intake to.there is a lot of power to get out of a 700 ill find it.(hot seat performance) (Aaen performance) check out the dino results
