Default Hop up my DS-650

i've been searching all over the internet lately how i can hop up my machine. obviously there are tons of ways to do this... but i'm very low on money as i'm paying for college. I know you guys get this question alot but i want to know what i can do to my machine for about 200$. i have a completely stock year 200 ds that's served me well. all i do is change the oil about 2x's in the winter season. TOO hot to ride in the summer. what do i need to do that will get my machine running like new again, or do you guys know of anyone that would be willing to sell me a used pipe or any mods like that. i dont' wanna mess with the engine at all cuz i've seen people do that and by the time thier done tinkering w/ it the day is already spent and i don't wanna join that club. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. i ride at dumont dunes. thanks, sam.

Welcome to the Forum!

First things first. On you next oil change, take the big black hose off of the oil tank(under neath) than take off the fiitting to the tank that the big black hose attaches to. Thier is a oil screen attached to the fitting that is probably getting pretty clogged by now on your DS.

As far as perfomance, Modify your endcap, or buy a modified one, then buy you a good Air filter(KN) and last but not least Jet your carb accordingly.(we can tell you how).

This will give you a nice power gain!!!

ok, thanks for the promt response! To be honest with you i had no idea that there was a screen that filters the oil as well as the oil filter. i'll look for it in the up comming weeks when i change the oil.

also, a new endcap... where do you guys here purchse these? is there somwhere that you get em for cheap?

where should i buy the jetting equipment from. i've been searching ebay lately and found a Quest Traxter DynoJet Dyno Jet Kit going for $50. is that an item that would be what i need? are all jetting kits that much?

i've seen people talking about packing thier pipes as well... is that needed for a stock pipe? thanks, sam.

If your good with welding and cutting you could probably make the endcap yourself or have someone you know do it. There are places to order them online but they are 100$. You need the DS650 jet kits, not the traxter one. You can get that at rockymountainatv.com.

Dont feel bad, hardly anyone knew that that screen was in thier till a couple motors seized up Fortunatley many of us saved our motors because of a few peoples Hard luck.

Thier are a couple people in here that sells moddified endcaps.

I would strongly suggest you talk to Mister hp(you can PM him). he will have a modified endcap, filter, and the right jets for your carb, and some great advise, for well under 200 bucks. I have never delt with him pesonally, but I hear good things about him, from friends.

Good luck.

My bad about the traxter, did not pay much att. to my copy and pasting. pardon my ignorance for I’m very new to the whole forum talk, but what's PM'ing and do you guys have any pics of what a homemade end cap looks like so I can have my dad make one, he's a pretty regular welder at work. Your help thus far has been greatly appreciated!

try a 14 - 15 front sprocket it turns things around a little and if you don't have a cdi there have been a few on the classified at the bottom for 100-200.
