i was at my local riding area sunday and my clutch cable broke so i ran home and grabbed my dads new rancher to ride. my buddy was on my ol trx300 that is in very bad condition ie no brakes half stuff not put together but runs good. i decided to drag race him after seeing the atc250R get spanked by a tecate 250. we went to the end of the strip and started i got the jump on the rancher then i looked and when i hit 5th pegged he went by me. beat me by like 4 links. i went home and told my dad now he is ready to race me with it he thinks that he could beat me because for some reason he thinks that slow piece is fast. He tried to run my 400ex and i just blow by him like he is going backward. why would my ol 300 with a cobra pipe and jetted wrong beat his new rancher?

 

Beats the hell out of me cause my rancher is pretty fast. And i think it would woop a trx300

 

well we couldnt get to where we could safely race with my no brakes i might get my stepmom to try as well with her es to see how fast we are going. well i dont know about ranchers beign fast because when i first rode one i thought they lacked what my ol 300 had. your rancher might be a little faster than stock but i still think they are lacking what they shoudl have in power. they dont even have that much tourqe. i cant even get the rancher to ride a wheelie and the 300 coudl ride them all day long. of course not as easy as my 400ex but it was alot easier than the rancher.

 

my bayou250 beats my dads rancher...are the ranchers 4x4? that would slow them down wouldnt it?

 

they are both 2X4. they just are not that fast. they sure ride alot better than the 300 though but it is a little bumpy with the pure sport realtors on it.

 

you need to adjust the throttle cable on the rancher. there should only be about 1/4 to 1/8 inch of slack in the cable.
