Army Man I'd like info on 400 Buyou
#1
I had stopped at my local Polaris dealer on Monday and looked at purchasing a 2nd 4x4 atv to go with the Polaris 425 4x4 Xpedition 5-speed I own now. He had a 1999 Arctic cat 500 4x4 with 714 miles and a 1993 Kawasaki 400 Buyou with 2002 miles (someone had added a "factory" speedo and odometer). The dealer was asking $4500 for the AC. and $2800 for the Kaw. Both of these units look like new.
I have recieved some help on the Arctic Cat forum...Andy Bassham suggested I might get more info on the Buyou here. I think both of these atv's are good buys, but I need to narrow it down to 1. I'd like to find out the good and bad points on the Buyou. Will it keep up with the Polaris 425 I own now?
Top speed? and trail ridding ? Any problems with this atv?
Both are Liquid cooled, shaft drive, have speedo's and odometers. The AC is a few years newer and is a bigger atv, 10" ground clearance vrs. 7". Thanks for the help, it is much appriciated !

It depends wether you are willing to spend $4500 or $2800. Both sound like great bikes for the price but one thing's for sure, That damn artic cat's shifter will drive you nuts! It is however the more updated quad with plenty of speed if thats what you want. I would consider the bayou a utility vehicle. I had a bayou 300 2x4 and the fun factor just wasn't in it. Well good luck!

I have a '99 Bayou and it's been a great unit. It has around 40 hours on it so far and i've had no trouble with it. I think it is great for fast trail riding seeing as it's pretty low and wide, it keeps up with my Grizzly just fine. It could use a bigger gas tank and maybe more suspension travel but overall i'm very happy with it.
