I heard some of you talking about adjusting the throttle on your honda quads. I tried this on my recon and it seems like it hits the throttle stop earlier. Is this normal? I didnt notice any gains on the low end but I havent had it up to top speed yet.

I took it out for a ride on a gravel road behind my house and did notice a little more top end. Did I do it right?

I might be wrong about this, but adjusting the play in the cable is NOT going to make it hit the stop any sooner, as the stop is molded into and is part of the throttle lever housing. All you're doing by adjusting the cable is changing the amount of slack--too much slack would cause the throttle plate to not be fully opened when at WOT, and not enough slack would cause it to bind and rev when turning the bars from lock to lock. In order to check to see if you're getting full throttle, then you'll have to remove the intake boot and check the position of the plate while also adjusting the cable.
