Painting A-Arms and other things HELP
#1
I got the 01 Frame which is the blue one. I was wondering if anyone knows where i can get the EXACT same paint as the frame. I want to touch it up and then paint my A-Arms. Has anyone painted the stock swingarm? How can i do this? I dont like the gray over the blue lol. I also need to touch up the frame where the previous owner Scrapped it up.
Thanks

It's 1000 times better to have them powder coated. IF you take it to you local shop they should match it. Pant will chip off your frame is allready powder coated blue so paint will not look the same. and to have somthing powder coated is not that bad atleast around here. I had my frame and hubs done for like 120$.

SandTrax... I'm going to send you my parts next time and have YOU get them powdercoated LOL
Round here it is WAY higher than that. I had 300+ in my frame alone.
TJw... I agree with SandTrax powder coating is MUCH better than paint, but it is more expensive. I've heard of people painting their stuff and being happy with it but it will chip, peal, and fade pretty fast compared to powder coating.

It cost me 100$ to get my frame powder coated silver, and yes they come powder coated from the factory, it is the strongest paint and imo the best paint for what its worth. Other paints would chip and scratch real easy, but powder coating is kinda melted onto the frame for the strongest hold. Touchups will look bad, but better than rust. I suggest powder coating the hole frame, if memory serves me correct, you cannot powder coat the "A" arms because there are grease seals that you would ruin.

Thanks TJw its been alot of work and $$$ but its came a long way!
The stock coating is nothing like the coating that I had put on. The coating that I had put on is 100X tougher than the stock stuff.
Like Dumont said I would sand it and cover it with something just to keep the rust from getting out of control!
Good luck!

I agree, if you don't want to spend the dough to get the whole frame redone. Sand the small areas that are rusted and apply "OneStep" rust neutralizer to it so it doesn't keep rusting. It will turn the rust black, so maybe it won't be too easy to see.

LOL, if anyone is wondering why im asking alot of questions latly its because i will be fixing up my raptor through the winter. I want to strip it down to frame and start up from there. Ive gotten 2 PMs from different people asking if im a millionaire or just inherited money lol. NO im a average guy trying to correct the previous owners mess. So the way to go is Powder Coating? What do i do with the A-Arms, just paint them? Can the swing arm be painted? I figure i wont have this swingarm next year. I was wondering one more thing. Does Drag races last all year? If it dont i figure ill start on my bike rebuild after thanksgivng.
Thanks for the replies
