Default Sportsman 500 drive belt delamination

Is there any known fix for the sportsman 500 eating drive belts? Or am I the only one experiencing this problem?

I've been through 3 belts, the last one was a belt from a sportsman 700. All belts have delaminated. The dealer says my clutch is lined up correctly but I have to believe that the problem is with the drive unit and not the belts themselves. I've only logged 500 miles on the quad.

Please help me out here. Polaris is claiming rider error, though this quad is never abused.

Thanks for your help!

Unless your riding in high when you should be in low, I don't see how it could be rider error?????

Sounds like a problem with your secondary. Has it been apart since you got the machine?

Its only been apart at the dealer. He said the fisrt time the belt went was due to clutch misalignment but he said he fixed that. The belts arent burning or slipping which is what I would imagine they would do from riding in the wrong gear. They are delaminating.

I've been very happy with the quad other than this problem.

What do you reccomend I do? Is this something I can diagnose and possibly reapir? Im a decent wrench, mostly with cars though.

Thanks!

This could be heat related. Make sure your inlet & outlet are clear. I have seem dirtdobbers (I can't spell that correct) build in a air intake for a breather and stop it up enough that the wheeler would not run. If the belts are getting hot, they might come apart. I guess you could feel the outlet on top of the cover and see if it's blowing good there. Good luck, Charles
