I am currently trying to get some more power out of my sportsman some of the guys said that changeing the muffler wouldn't do much, for the most power for the sportsman I would say to change the springs in the clutch and and add a 40mm carb and if you got big bucks change the cam shaft.

You can get "adequate" power from the SP500 by doing a series of modifictions that will enhance the hp and torque. One or two things are not gont to get it done, but a system to get power is readily available. Quick power is just not available from these meager 4-strokes.
