ok first off i live at around 800ft above sea level...
I had my local shop rejet my quad with a 185 main (didnt touch anything else) after i put on a KN (in the airbox with lid and snorks ON) and a FULL mbrp race pipe/headers...
it ran pretty well...
now i switched the tailpipe to a white brothers. (with same filter and mbrp headers) it ran what i beleive to be RICH AS H3LL! (i could NOT start it with the electric start, i had to pull start it behind my freinds quad....even after that it would HARDLY stay running....after 20 minutes it was still boggy ALL over the powerband.....
there is also black residue on my grab bar and on the discs.....
i am down in my garage now (first time jetting) and i see its a 185 main, and i have a 155-160-165-170-175 and 185..... i was thinking i should try the 170? i dont want it to run too lean... and it would be nice if i chose the right one the first time instead of having to disassemble the carb again....
so let me know what you guys think i should put in!
(i have the needle on the Last clip on the top so its ALL the way down) and im going to go down now and put the fuel screw at 3 turns out
any response would be very helpful asap! thanks

theres something else going on in your carb if it wont start or idle. sounds like a dirty polit jet clean the whole carb with carb cleaner and try the 180 main. also take out a spark plug and check the color.

I run at sea level and mine is 170 main, stock needle in stock position, k&n filter with 2 1" holes drilled in lid, and FMF powercore 4. Tried a 172.5 and 175 but they were to rich.

Sound like your running dyno jets from the list you gave. If so the 185 is OK. I agree with dsracer666. Your carb needs to be cleaned possibly. There is now way you should see that big a diff between those to silencers. In fact the WB prolly flows better than that ......%$#$%# I can't even say that name

How many times do I need to tell you what to do man??? I talked to you all night last night and several other times so what's the deal man?? I said to turn your fuel screw out to 3 turns right away then fine tune it while running, then lower the needle all the way, then put a 165 main in or a 170...... You wont even be close to running lean and even if it was a tad lean it's not gonna hurt anything. You can't expect to get jetting perfect on the first try either so do all I said and try the 165, 170, and 175 main and see what works best..... There is nothing more you need to know untill you get that far.

ya thanks all your info was VERY helpful, but you wern't online when i took it apart to find teh 185 main in there....
you had said put the 165 in cuz i figured they put the 170 in...but when i saw it was 15 over what i expecited i didnt know what to put in....
ive got fresh plugs, cleaned out pilot jet, and a 175 main right now, i thoughti would try this out and see how it runs.
i also have the screw at 3 turns out.
