Blaster runs like the choke is on
#1
I moved the circle clip one notch on the needle for summer riding. I took it for a ride last week when it was cold and snowy (20F), the motor clanged quite a bit and I put it away right away. Before I rode it the next time, I moved the circle clip one notch richer than the factory setting. Took for test ride in the snow (32F.) and it run like the choke was on. I then recheck to see if I put it together wrong. no change. Then changed plug. Then I put the clip in factory notch. I checked the air cleaner , looked in the exhaust port and took for test ride with air box lid off and it run good. Put air box lid on and back to the same. Could it be a broken ring. (2003 Blaster, all stock, low hours,)

buy taking your air box lid off it allowed more air to get to your carb. This means with your lid on your jet was to rich for the conditions. This means you need to go smaller with your main jet. Be carefull not to go to small or you will fry a piston by running too lean. with jets it is a guessing game and you just have to go a little at a time. I jet my two times a year, one for winter and one for summer. Good luck
