Depends on the distance. On a longer run, a Raptor will outrun a YFZ mod for mod. In the first few gears though, you'd better have your launch perfected and a few more mods than the YFZ.

He will get you the first 300 feet for sure. My buddies piped and jetted Raptor runs good and a friend of mine purchased the YFZ450 and ran it against the Raptor and the YFZ won the race.

I agree w/ ubetrun & RaptorOwner.

Edit: Not only do I agree, but I've lived it.

Stock for Stock you'll get beat bad. The rappy is just to detuned, and the stock pipe holds the raptor back.

But I raced a YFZ with the same mod's at me...not sure what his pipe was though and we ran side by side once I hit 4th gear. We came off the line in first side by side he hit 2nd and 3rd and was 1 bike lenght ahead. Once I hit 4th and 5th I quickly started gaining and we was running side by side with me gaining more and more until we ran out of pavement. We raced about 150yards or less. In a 1/4 mile or more a rappy will take the YFZ.

Now take the same deal to the sand hill and the results are different. The same Raptor/same pilot that caught me in the higher gears was nowhere to be seen running the valley @ Sand Mountain.

Maybe in the sand...but where I come from there is no sand. You either race in mud....snow.....dirt....or pavement.

And in those applications....the two bikes are very close.

Yamaha660R - I don't know what kind of racing you do but on a MX track they're not close. I go up against those little ba$tards on a few different tracks from tight arena cross to wide open National level and it's the same story each time, they are quicker turn-to-turn. Look at all the high-dollar MX machines for sale, everyone is switching to the YFZ for a reason. Just because you've gone up against one and did OK, don't assume that all riders and YFZs will behave the same.
