300 Prairie 30a Fuse Blowing
#1
Anyone know what may cause my Prairie to blow the 30a inline fuse to the positive side of the battery. A local shop said it might be the $300 igniter box or the $300 stator. I think it may be something cheaper. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Sounds like something is shorted to ground, something that can handle some amps.
I'd start at the starter, remove the positive cable from the starter, and see if that stops the fuse blowng. I dont have a wiring diagram, so im guessing thats not the only 12 volt dc positive, going to the bike. If it doesnt blow the fuse, and you get a neutral light, or similar indication, try to start w/ pull starter.
Look for wiring problems, such as worn insulation on wires, touching the frame.
good luck

Does it blow the fuse as soon as you put it in. Or when riding, Or as soon as you turn the key on. If it blows it
setting there start unhooking stuff to see if you can find out what it is. My buddy has a 650 and his blowed the fuse and we found a shorted wire under the front plastic. It may involve inspecting the entire wiring harness.
