Default Losing lid to my Outlander's trunk?

Have any of you had a problem with the plastic cover for the rear storage compartment on the outlander? I was taking mine back from an all day ride and noticed that it must have flew off during the trip home. The things are cheap to begin with, and are held in place with a single rubber strap?

I love My Outlander, but I hate the plastic lids!

The problem is that I never knew that the latch had come loose and it flew off on the highway. It's the only thing that I do not like about the ATV, otherwise, I love it!

I would rework the design if I were them. I just ordered another one, $24.95! Can you believe it? For a hunk of plastic!

I eventually did find mine up on a highway in central PA, broken in half as a car ran over it! Just my luck!

The only way you can loose the cover is if you didn't fully latch the cover down all the way. When you stretch the rubber over the hook it is impossible to come off, not a problem with the 8 Outties I ride with.

Well, you can be sure I will triple check it from now on. I usually do that with things, but I guess I missed it this time. I do love the bike. For my first ATV, I don't regret the decision one bit.

Perfect for a beginner, yet great for when I aquire a few more skills!

Jim!
