Performance and service parts pricing?????
#1
Is it just me or does everyone think these prices for performance parts are way too high? I mean take exhaust pipes for example. Any qualified welder with access to the right materials could build one. Have you ever paid attention to how much material is in one? I bet there's not $20 worth in a pipe that costs $300. I don't know but it seems to me that the hype about the parts raise the prices. To a point it may be worth it but it seems like I am having to pay for hype. You can buy a set of tires for your car cheaper than you can an atv. $30 air filters, $100 brake rotors, $30 brake pads, $300 exhausts, $80 jet kits, the list goes on and on. It seem that they think if we can afford an atv we have big bucks for parts. I priced a u-joint for my Wolvy awhile back at the Yammy dealer and it was over $120. I matched it up at an auto parts store for $17. Make you wonder how much they are sticking us for on parts that we have to buy from Yammy.
Just bitchin a little this morn.

Everytime I bring this up I catch some crap about "their doing us a service since we cant make it ourselves, we should pay that much" or " Its worth it to me". So I just decided to let them be rertarded and Ill save my money making parts, making auto or other parts fit, and buying used stuff for next to nothing. If you dont realize its insane then you deserve to be ripped off.
I added up all the OEM parts needed to put together a warrior and it was well over 20 grand FYI.

Oh yeah the best deal in ATVs is a new machine. They make alot more on parts. I am with ya about making parts and getting around having to buy from the factory dealers. I match my bearings up at a bearing shop instead of yammy parts. Me and a pal made some skid plates and are gonna try making some brake pads from old car pads. I know parts makers have to make money but it seems to me they are trying to make more than the parts are actually worth

For the most part it is rediculous.
There are tons of costs to doing business though, which affect the bottom line alot in smaller companies which for the most part all ATV aftermarket companies are pretty small compared to other industry.

I thought the same thing, hop up parts for the mustang are cheaper for example i replaced my h-pipe and added 2 1-chamber flowmaster mufflers for less than 200 dollars and that is a lot of material! A full yoshi exhaust for the raptor is like 600 bucks. These prices are a joke! A-arms 500+ Aftermarket shocks 1000+ give me a break. Hell if i bought yamalube and the yamaha oil filter an oil change would cost me over 20 bucks. I use auto oil and auto filters and comes out to less than 10 bucks! If someone would startup a atv performance parts company with affordable prices they could make a killing!

It seems to me that they think if we are rich enough to afford the luxury of having an atv for recreation we have money to burn. I think alot of it has to do with the popularity of atvs now. Its kinda like when I first bought my Harleys...They weren't that popular, if ya rode one back then you were the scum of the earth. Then the celebraties started buying them and they got popular. The prices of the bikes and parts jumped straight up in just a few years. I guess I see that the companys see a way to make a good profit. But you would think they could make parts priced reasonable, or aleast worth what they charge for them.
