Default are beadlocks a must for GNCC???

More newbie questions. I have a Z400, my dad has a P650, we are gonna race gncc for the first time in fla. Are beadlocks a must for either one of us? I will probably buy them. but beadlocks for my dads rig are real expensive!!! just wondering if just about everyone is running beadlocks or not in the utilities and sports

You dont have to have them but in order to go faster you'll need them.

They are not mandatory, but it's hard to race on a flat tire.

Yes, but a tire can be flat with bead locks too!! Use your personal experience. If you tend to get careless and wild on the course with tire placement, then they will be beneficial. But if you are careful about your likes, then you should be ok. Maybe add some slime to the tires to prevent flats if the beadlocks are too expensive.

Ok, what exactly is the benefit of having beadlock rims? I was under the impression that a bead lock simply locks in the tire to the rim so as to prevent the tire from rotating on the rim when you suddenly hit the breaks hard or suddenly take off quickly. Is this the only advantage or does it offer some sort of protection against flats too?
