Hey just joined up ,got a question for ya.

most of the time i can start my quad and it runs awsome , starts good runs smoth good responce, the whole deal.

but some times out of the blue it starts to idle slower and seams to miss,,,if i give it gas the tone gets deeper and it will back fire but the revs stay the same, it just idles. What gives???

Check your intake boot for cracks it could be sucking air at times through a crack.

Funny how? Funny like a clown?
Sorry, couldn't resist. If all else fails you might want to rebuild the carb. But check the boot like Ftwflh said.

Guess nobody else saw the movie "Good Fellas", that's the clown reference.
