Default Little Sahara trip in april

Hi all, Its been a while sence I've read the forum. I know I dont post much but I like to come in and read what everyone ealse post. I've gathered alot of usefull info outa here in the past, and you've all helped me build up a pretty respectable DS650,(witch IMO is the best quad out there for a big guy like my self) I wouldnt ride anything but a DS now I'm hooked for good, I guess its a better vise than some other things out there.
Well with that out of the way now I'll get to it.
I live in Illinois on the mississippi river and their isnt many places to ride around here that we've found yet. So the wife, kid and I are planing on a trip to Little Sahara Oklahoma in April some time and I wanted to know if there is anybody in the forum here that lived near by there who could tell us a little more about the place, other than what we've found out on the web. We would kinda like to go out on a off time for the park so there wasnt a huge crowd out there, the wife and kid have never been to the dunes befor and arent sure of what to expect, so I'd like the first time for them to be on the mello side of things but fun as well. The wife and kid are just startin out on quads so to speak and a big crowd might be alittle intimidating for them at first.
We all have capable quads to handle the sand, but will our sport tires be ok for the first time, we all have shredder RA's on the back and I was wondering if thay do ok out there.
Were is the best place to camp, best places to go, were to stay away from and so on, We were just wondering about some of that kinda stuff. Any help we could get would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks to all

Welcome back Xingfool. My family lives about 4 hours from Little Sahara and we have been about 7 or 8 times. We allways have a great time. We have been to Snake hunt week end and had great time but go when its not so crazy the first time. The sand gets to choppy and way to many people trying to have fun at the same time.Flying over open flat and smooth sand is the best. That time of year Little Sahara gets some good rains,so be prepared. We like the south camp grounds because it dont get as crazy as the north camp. There are more stores at the N then the s camp grounds but the stores are not to far from south camp.. Tires, well I have allways put my haulers on my DS at Little Sahara, but my wifes 400ex and my kids 250ex gets around fine with the stock tires. Paddles just make it that much better.Get the flags with the springs, they will last longer $ when smacking the trees on the trails. We will be going back this spring but dont know when for sure. You guys will have a blast. Be safe.................

My wife and I would be up for a trip to Little Sahara in April. I've never been to the dunes before. I would like to go when its not crowed as well for the same reasons as yourself. Does anyone know when would be the best time?

Of course, i would only be able to make it if i got my DS back together by then! Still waiting on the dang head...!!!

xingfool....have you ever tried Rockport Park? That's fairly close to you but it's pretty rugged for a DS.
