Default Oil tank screen removal on 2003+ Sportsman

The manual says to clean the screen on the backside of the oil tank but I can't get it off. The tank is plastic so I don't want to torque on it too much. Has anyone been succesful in removing the oil pickup fitting to get at the screen?

I have an 02 sportsman 400. Mine has the metal tank and I know that the first time I took the oil line off the back of the tank I thought I was going break the fitting. Try angain knowing that it will be really tight otherwise call your dealer and see if there are any tricks to taking it off.
Good Luck!!

I cleaned mine back in fall, I thought for sure it was going to break. I did end up getting it off. I hope it will be easier next time!
