Does anybody know how the 2001 Rancher ES 2 wheel drive performs on the dunes?

We've had our 2wd ES on the dunes twice (along with a Recon) and it was great. It was a little squirrely going up some steep dunes where a 4wd might have tracked straighter, but I've never ridden a 4wd so can't say for sure. The rear tires wanted to dig in up some of those but with more throttle it went on up. There were a couple I didn't make but they might have been too stiff even with 4 wheels. 2wd's are lighter in front and steer easier so in that respect should handle a little better, and maybe are more fun sliding around?
Only once so far have I wished for 4wd, and that was trying to go up a steep stream bank where it wanted to spin on the rocks. But our experience is limited to dry and rocky stuff and the dunes, no mud yet.
