Can Ozark keep up with Sportsman?
#1
Planning to buy an atv on a budget and was looking at the Ozark. My two brother-in-law's have Sportsman 600 and 500 and sister-in-law has a Sportsman 400. Will the Ozark be able to keep up with them on trails? sand? mud? Thanks

The Ozark will not embarass itself. Basically, if the larger bikes ride moderately, the Ozark will hang with them just fine. OTOH, if they choose to leave you behind, they be able to do it on any open trail or deep mud 4x4 needed situation.

As far as an Eiger hanging with the likes of a Sportsman 600 etc.
I ride with my brother most times - he has a P650. In any situation except open fire roads, the machines are almost equal. In fact, on a tight woods trail, I'd give the Eiger a slight edge - mostly due to lighter weight, lighter steering and tighter turning radius. Features like a front locker can give the bigger machines an edge in some cases, although I've pulled the Prairie out of mudholes that the Eiger made it through. (Just as the Prairie has pulled me out too). All in all, if you are into non-competitive trail riding, a 400 class will do just fine with the bigger cc'd quads. Even the Ozark will do fine - I rode the Ozark for a full day on one of our rides. Even though at 6'-2" I'm a little large for the 'zark, there was no problems keeping up with the P650.
Make no mistake - if you get into a drag race or an open road throttle-fest, a 600 class machine will clean the clock of either the Eiger or Ozark. But for 'normal' riding, they will do just fine.
