I can't say for Irwindale, but I can say for NHRA.
"Generally" You will need. A Ca. drivers license, Leathers, A Snell approved helmet (95 and up I think) and Some kind of a "dead mans" kill switch. That should be it.
Some tracks really don't like quads and bikes and all of that. I can't say if Irwindale is one of them.

I can't say this for sure, but I think it will be ok. Last year there was some kid on an old suzk. RM 125 bracket racing. It had full knobbies and number plates and everything!!!! Kinda funny, he would leave a car in the dust at the start and then about 1/4 track the car would blow around him like he was standing still!!! I think it ran an 18 or something. Very funny to see!!!!
Like I said, this was for bikes. I have never seen a quad race at the strip. But I think it is just nobody ever thought of it, rather than a rule deal.
I have been to some really cool tracks. But some tracks have "Richard Heads" that run them. They can getVery strict on rules. I just can't say about Irwindale. If you do get to race, Don't and I mean Don't show off or pull a wheelie. Track people just don't put up with that kind of stuff!!!!!! They will tell you to leave!!!!
