how sould i tune up my big red

Default how sould i tune up my big red

I am going to regerister and ride my big red but what should i do to it before i hit the trails to make sure it is running right because i do not want to be miles away from my house and it breakes dow.

I know that i need brakes and a new air filter but i changed the oil and used car oil in it i think i am gonig to change it and put hoda oil in it and i have a new oil filter to but when i run it it runs good util it is realy hot after about 15 20 mins the it states to bog down when i give it some do you think that is the oil ??

On the 250 models, they use a choke plunger like the TRX300.

On nearly every 250 or 300 that runs like crap once warmed up good have a problem with this plunger. Take it out and lube it up. If it is badly corroded, you will need to replace it. Also check for cable movement and lube it as well.

where is the choke plunger is it at the end of the choke calble i think that will help alot if that is the problem because the calble moves realy hard

It's the cable that attaches to the carb with a plasti nut holding it in place.

Be sure not to break the nut when taking it off. If you do, you will have to buy the plunger kit anyway just to get the cap. Those kits aren't cheap. About $40

Since you mention a hard to move cable, you are going to have to go in there and see if it's the plunger and/or the cable itself causing the problem.

These trikes are bad for this...250sx/es. Had to cut one off once-siezed so bad...If your bike is backfiring or sputtering when it is really warm that is probaby the reason... Check the sparkplug as well - this will tell you alot...other than that, mine has never left me stranded - never had any serious problems - normal wear & tear. Complete confidence she'll get me home...

the spark plug is black and it s crusted on their and gas is spitting out of the carb and the exaust is alot more smoke and it is gray and black

thanks alot for the help can't wait to ride
