Can anyone tell me the part number for the Wix oil filter for the Rancher? I'm right at 20 hours and need to change the oil and filter.

I got this info from another thread on these boards, so I don't know this to be a fact, but here it is.

Wix 24944
Fram CH6015
Honda 15412-HM5-A10

One thing of interest that I found on a website that sells parts, is that the same filter is used for all honda ATVs. That explains why I didn't get a chance to give the full model info before the girl at the Honda counter had my filter when I went to buy one.

Glad to see you're changing your own oil. Evidently your dealer did not lie by telling you that the warranty would be void if you did not pay them to do it. I hear that comment far too often on this forum.

That's the correct filter # for WIX. FYI: I heard that Honda makes the filter for WIX. Furthermore, it's less expensive. Go figure. You may want to ask the salesperson if they know this to be true. Like I said, I heard this, but never really confirmed it.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I was about 2 hours past the first change so I went ahead and bought the honda filter and changed it and put in the honda oil as well. Next time I'll search down the cheaper wix filter.

I am the one who confirmed the WIX filter is really a Honda filter.
At the parts store where I used to work I seen the WIX representive, and I ask him who made the filter. He told me WIX, I told him I didn't know WIX had a plant in Canada. He then made a phone call and told me that WIX bought the filter from Honda.....

The Carquest #89944, Fram CH6015, Wix 24944, and Baldwin P7132
cross reference to the Honda 15412-HM5-A10. Have not checked
to see the cost comparisons are.

I recently bought a FRAM filter for my Shadow. It cost $5.00 at the local Advance Auto store. The first one I bought for it was $12.00 at the dealer. I haven't had my Rancher 4x4 long enough to change the oil so I don't know the price of a filter yet. I would guess the price difference would be about same but I'll get the Honda filter till the warranty runs out. Better safe than sorry. My dealer did tell me I could do it myself, just keep receipts and a record.

Just to let you know. I recently purchased the oil filter for my Foreman 450S from J.C. Whitney for $2.99, and when I received them they were EMGO brand. I've read somewhere online that these are really well built filters. The SKU # is 01ZX3487N .
The page link is

They came real fast and saved me a bunch. Hope this helps someone.
