Anybody ever had this problem before?

Ok quick re-cap. I have had my bike down for awhile. While it has been down I have change the clutch (to the six spring Hinson), switched manifolds, different carb settings, and have had the sub frame and oil tank/lines off.
So today is the first time I have started it up in awhile. I added the 1.6Q of oil, started it up, and let it run for a second. Then I checked the dip stick, dry (which is normal), I added another quart. Now I should be done with the oil change, so I start working on/with my carb. I am having to crank my bike up and run it a little, then shut it back down and tune the carb. During the process of this I check my oil again. It is VERY low on the dipstick (which is not uncommon because of the temp of the motor), <u>BUT</u> the oil is almost foamy. It has lots of little air bubbles trapped in it.

Anybody have a reason for this? Has it ever happend to you?

This has happened to me when I have had to much oil in it. Also, check the oil that your using, it may be the wrong kind.

 

It shows to be low on the dip stick, so I don't think it has too much.
And it is V twin oil from Valvoline, made for wet clutch, so I think it is ok. I have used it before, but only once, and don't remember it being foamy like this.

 

Are you checking it as soon as you shut it off. I have the same when I check the oil right after I shut it off. Wait a little bit and it will be fine. The fill line coming back from the motor on the tank comes in from above and I believe it shoots into the tanks causing the foam. JMO

 

Yes I am. That makes me feel better...that it is happening to somebody else.

Ben, if you ride it for a little while, it won't be foamy after it gets nice and hot.

 

It happens to me too if I check it right after I shut it off. I was worried too but then other people had the same problem.
