Default Clutch/tranny problem

A guy I work with asked me if I could help him with his 04 400 sportsman. Something is not right, in high range it doesn't accelerate right and going up hill it just stops, he said it make it up the hills in low ok though. He put a new belt on and said the old one was in bad shape. I am not familiar with the newer polaris clutches, is it just a sprag braking for engine braking and the the primary and secondary clutches? Could it be that the secondary spring is weak? Any ideas?
Thanks.

It might be the buttons in the Drive clutch. There are some plastic button like pieces there are 3 of them if they are broke it will act like it is shifting in to a high gear an dog the motor down.
