How did you do at Loretta's GNCC this past weekend
#1
Was just wondering who all went to Loretta's this past weekend and how did you do if you raced... I went just to watch, not that I could even hang with you guys who raced, running a 13 mile lap for, I think it was 3 laps... Congrats to all who did race..
I think the 10am start had 400+ riders some of the rows started 70 riders at one time and the 1pm heat had 300+ riders..

Hey Mike. Great photos of the race on your photo page.
How did I do?
Well, I was in the big class of the evening race [4 stk B]. By the time we staged, it was a 2 row start, with me being one of the lucky few on the backrow. When we left the start and went for the first few turns and through the twisties, I was about midpack crossing the creek and when crossing the road.
I was doing great and was picking off a few guys when I lost my rear brakes around mile marker 6. I went into a corner way too fast and bit a tree hard. Jammed my thumb (throttle thumb ofcourse...how lucky) pretty bad. I pulled over and watched nearly my entire class go by while I sat there in pain. At that time, I thought I had broken my thumb. After a couple minutes, I knew it wasn't broken and decided to keep on despite the pain. Afterall, it's a GNCC race right
Even riding at a slower pace, I was passing others in my class who also crashed out in the first lap and were pulled over. I saw guys laying all over the place, from my class and others. Got through 2 bottlenecks with no problem.
At the end of the first lap, arm pump was creeping up which didn't help my thumb situation at all. On the 2nd lap, I got sick and ended up literrally falling from my quad and ending my day. Pain, arm pump, heat, and countless rocks did me in. I never completed my 2nd lap.
All of those who completedthis race have my upmost respect. This was my first race at Lorettas, and was the rockiest and most whooped out course that I have ever raced. No breathing room at this event.
I haven't been as serious with offroad racing in the pastyear and have only ran 3 events in the last 9 months. Had I spent more time riding and been more serious about being physically ready, it may have helped out, but I will never know for sure, because my thumb is still useless.
I will likely run a couple more this year, depending on my work schedule.
Anyway, I ended up 52 out of 57. My worst finish outside of a DNF. I'm not proud of it consideringthat I was doing so well before getting in over my head, but did learn from it and it's something that I will have in mind the next time I run this track.

As a side note regarding this race....
Team Chaos did in fact beat all of the KFR team members
I'm actually shocked that the Capn' hasn't already came on here to bring it up. That's why I didn't mention it earlier.
First come, first serve....here's my outlook on it.
When we first saw him on Friday, he knew that 2 of us were running the 4 stroke B class. He showed up at the starting line Saturday in the Open B class!! That kind of ticked us off, but it didn't matter really because he ended up beating all 3 of us in the overall scores...LOL
I will say this, the Captain isn't quite the smack talker in person that he is here on the forum. He didn't come to us after the race to laugh at our finish either. He was actually quite the opposite, talking about how rough the course was and how lucky he was to finish it.
He finished ahead of all 3 of us.
Congrats to the Captain and the rest of his team for backing up the smack. [although I never saw any others besides him]
We always have Somerville next month Capn'

This is james. i cant seem to post using my dads info anymore so i just got an acount of my own now. i got 17th in the openb class. i worked hard to do it though and the track was rougher than it was last year. i was in 5th place at the beginning of the 3rd lap but got wore out towards the end and faded back to my finish result. it could have been much worse.
yes, we do have summerville next month patrick. why did your buddy on the ex not bring up our deal after the race the other day? I wasnt going to mention it because its in bad taste i feel. i didnt even know i had beaten you guys for sure till today.we can talk about it the next time i guess.
since you two also forgot to mention your own teammate, i will let everyone know that liftkit got a top 5 finish at this race. exactly what we expected. david got 12th despite having a flat front tire in the first lap, changed it and then got a rear flat and ran it till the end of the race. great finish indeed. my stepdad, who really uses the captaincarl name here did not get to go to the race. he has been sick with something since early last week.
overall i had a great time as did my teammate. we are looking forward to next year for sure, but we still have business to take care of this year in the mmcc races. we may run the midsouth races to so if you guys plan to go to let us know and we can get together and make plans.

I did great considering I didn't even expect to finish this one. I got third in my class. After breaking my clutch lever at the beginning of the second lap I didn't think I'd do to good. I kind of surprised myself by not stalling it except at the checkpoints.

ill give it to you you ran hard, but i might have cought you and might not have caught you if my chain and front sprocket didnt mess up. I'll give you the honor of saying you beat us, but i will see you at somerville and have the opportunity try to beat you again. It was all for fun though really. liftkit was the only one in our team to finish and he done a good job of racing in the sport class.

Hi guys , it is intrestingto read your race reprorts as i race XC in the UK we call it enduro and run for 3 hours . the tracks are similar maybe a bit more open in places. I came over to watch the Forrest Fest back in 93 met Slone and warmed up Ricky Mattersons bike. since that day I have always wanted to race in the states and was wondering what would be my best way of doing it?? We race to a pretty high standard, Paul Edmondson is one of our best solo guys and Paul Rowlands whos is in the top 4 here fiished in the top 10 when he came over to race quads. I am not up to there pace but would expect to finishin the top 20% at most events. Any help would be much apreciated. Thanks Greg.
