I have heard some people talk about adjusting there throttle cable "all the way" what is meant by this and how do you go about doing it? Some people talk about great power gains from doing this, so please let me in on it. THANKS!!

Okay, I haven't done it to my quads nor am I. But I've been given the directions to do so from another rider and here they are, but if it messes you up don't blame me cuz again, I haven't tried this:
"1. ok up were the throttle cable meets the thumb throttle "housing"
there is a rubber boot slid that back there will be two round nuts
2. get two pairs of vise grips and loosen up the bigger nut
3. while holding the bigger nut with one pair of vise grips tighting up the smaller nut as tight as you can than tighten up the big nut as tight as you can
4. BEFORE ridieng it around while in neutral put your handlebars lock to lock to see if the idle gets higher if it does loosen the small nut litlle by little untill it does
5. take it for a test drive "

By the way, if your idle changes when your moving the tires from all the way to left to all the way right, you did it wrong and its Dangerous if that happens and you go riding.

Good Luck, and if you DO DO IT tell me how it was?

When assembling bikes or quads, the dealers either don't know or don't care how to adjust throttle cables properly. Hence they are often sold with an excessive amount of play or slop in the cable at the throttle lever. You can determine if you have this situation by gently pressing your throttle (I assume you still have the thumb type)lever. You should have just ever so slight a bit of play before the throttle begins to open. The surest way to determine this is with the engine running. If the throttle requires very much pressure before rpms increase, the result is that the carb slide will not raise fully, thereby restricting your fuel flow into the carb, which inhibits the top speed of your ride.
You adjust this slop out by sliding the rubber boot back away from the throttle lever, loosening the knurled lock nut, and backing the adjuster nut out (away) from the throttle just a tad. Retighten the lock ring & check the play in the cable; if the play requires additional adjusting, back the adjuster OUT a little more. Lock the ring & start the engine. If the idle has increased, you've tightened the cable too much-- go back & turn it IN slightly with the engine running until the idle returns to normal. Then re-tighten the lock ring & with the engine still idling, turn the bars full lock in both directions. There should be no increase in rpms when at full lock--if there is, you still have a tad too little play in the cable--go back & turn the adjuster IN a little & re-test.
This procedure takes way longer to explain than it does to do it, but if you have this excessive slop in your cable, you'll be amazed at the additional speed you've gained, AND IT'S FREE!

on the newer quads the carb dosnt open up all the way (on most of them) this makes it so it does i could fell the diffrence right off the bat and it was the best bang for the buck ive done yet hehehe

supertraprecon,
Unfortunately, no one gave them to me. I just had to learn stuff the hard way in the days before this forum..or even computers for that matter. That's why I like to save the newer riders from all my mistakes

All you're doing is removing the slack from your throttle cable using the adjuster between your cable and the throttle itself. That's always the first adjustment that I make to my new ATVs.
