Default carb blowing off the intake..what the heck is that???

i put a larger jet in my carb a few days ago....it wouldnt fit right and i had a trained bombardier tech look at it and the tube ontop of the main jet with small holes in it just had to be tossed away for the new jet to fit in...anybody have that problem?...now coming off of high rpms down to almost idle it stalls out...and when its cold and i try and start it up the carb blows off the intake clamps and all...what the heck is that?

Uh oh, sounds like you have a raptor...

Your jetting is off, then engine is causing enough back pressure to kick the carb right off the boot.

Sounds to me like you have the wrong size jet, What is happening is that you are getting way too much fuel into the cylnder causing it to backfire into the carburator. If you are at all mechanically innclined then pull your carb off, remove the floatbowl, and post the jet size.

first, did you do anything to your bike to require a bigger jet? second ive never heard of anyone getting rid of the tube the main jet goes in. try putting the sotck jet back in with the tube. if you didnt do any mods then you probally shouldnt be going up in main jets. plus it sounds like the main jet isnt right. ivr played with the stock carb for a while but all the jets fit in the main jet tube.

just a guess but he didn't give you a large round jet did he? i would get that tube back, again i'm not a carb expert, and have no real idea what the tubes for but my guess was that the gas gets splashed around in the bowl and it would work like a straw to keep fuel flowing more constant. and the engine sounds to be back firing to cause the carb to blow off.

I think you should put your stock jetting assembly back in and then get a few jets from your local dealer, they are pretty cheap. 167.5, 170, 175, 180. Your carb is popping off due to backfires caused by leaning out. The shield you took off is used for straightening flow to the jet and as an anti-slosh cure for coughing over whoops. In short it's important.
