Default Gear ratios on Traxter max

Great to be part ofthis forum. I just purchased a Traxter Max and just noticed the front tire is smaller (25") than the rear (26") on the same size rims. Will this be a problem if I want to install larger mud tires. Is the gearing different than the single rider traxter which has the same size (25") tires front and back.
Can someone clarify this?

Thanx

My single up 03 has mixed tires from the factory. From what I have heard you can run the same tires all the way around if you want.

Thanks and it is true, one can select any tires you wish. I just bought a 2005 shop service manual for my new Traxter Max (500 5 speed). Both the front and rearend have the same 3.6 to 1 gear ratios. A dealer claims that BRP did the tire mix a couple years back to increase rear ground clearance a bit. A friend of mine has a early model Traxter (one up, thumb shift...no auto) and he easily runs 28-12-12 rears/28-10-12fronts (High Lifter Outlaws with steel ITP rims) with no trouble. Someday I would like to go with 28 Maxxis Mudzilla's all around and install the High lifter 2 inch kit (if things rub). Also I really recommend that anyone order a shop manual for the year quad you have....it really puts the info out for about anything one could want to repair right down to what welding rod to use if you stick weld (and what to unhook so you do not fry any expensive stuff).
