Squeeking shock

Unless you have positively determined that it is the shock, you might check the swing arm pivot bolt. They normally aren't lubed too well at the factory.
Also, WD40 is not really a lubricant. It is basically a rust preventative by way of displacing moisture.

Easy, pull out the bolts at the top and bottom of the shock and put some grease in there. There is a round "ball" with a hole through it for the bolt, that needs lubed. You will see when you do it; the shock end goes around the ball and the bolt goes through the ball. That's how it is on my quads, at least.

Thx for the replies.. I am sure it's in the shock, I've lubed every moving part I could access already. Tonight I'll pop it off and grease her up like a 10 cent ho!
And yea i know WD-40 is more of a rust inhibiter but it will lube those hard to reach places when you can't fit a finger full of grease!!

Usually it's the spring rubbing on the shock body. Yamaha replaced the assembly on my buddies '00 Big Bear under warranty.

I took it off and all the linkage was well lubed, it was deffinatly in the shock.. I turned it up side down with out paying attention(I guess your not supposed to do that), but some oil must have ran up top where it was squeaking because when I put it back on it was gone. I was going to try and take it appart but it's a mfg sealed unit.. anyway, no worries, problem solved!
BTW, on mine, the shock has a plastic cover keeping the spring from rubbing, but mine wasn't rubbing anyway...
