the rod isnt really lighter its more durable, unless there is nothing wrong with the stock rod you should be alright, a new rod dosnt add horsepower, but while its apart go ahead and get one and while ur at when was ur last bottom end rebuild? since ur gonna be getting the HD 240 u might wanna go ahead and rebuild it whil you can, mine needs it already and have had the new motor for 2 WEEKS!!! better get it done all at once rother than have to sit in the gaage again like mine will be

I probably should.. I have the motor apart right now because i blew a crank seal and was sucking oil from the tranny..So now would be a good time to do it..
Also, in less then a month, I will be installing a big bore 240 kit...
Do you know how much they cost? And do they come with bearings and all that fun stuff?

I would imagine a 2000 blaster that has never had the bottom end touched is due for a new rod kit, you should check out just getting a hot rod crank or go with one of hollywoods aftermarket cranks, or even a long rod crank for some nice pulling power.

I don't have the money for that right now. You guys gotta remember that I am livin it Canada so that 240 kit is gonna cost me twice as much as what you can get it for...I think I will just get them to install a hot rod and new bearings in it while they have it apart. I think they are installing new crank bearings/seals anyway.
