hey atvers, i removed the restrictor plates and followed my son on his LT50 and my speedo was at 20mphdoes this seem right, had some one say no way in hell did this lil quad do 20mph!!! How fast is your LT50??

 

my 03 lt50 with the restrictors all removed did 11.9 mph on my gps with my at the time 45lbs. daughter on it

 

When my son follows me, we go about 11 mph ( per my trailtech) on flat dirt roads.

My son's did @ 12mph with exhuast res. removed. I removed intake washer and it will now do @ 15mph. Any tips to get me to @20????

 

mosquitoes [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] hehehe.......No tips, just removed the restrictors and the baffle on the exhaust and that was it. must be an inaccurate speedometer. by the way keep the deep woods off handy!!!!!!

 

we had a '85 LT50. Super light, i could lift it by myself with my arms open like full wing span, and put it on my bench. And I'm not the governor of California, just a meek pencil-pusher. I put in new rings and shaved the block a few thou to take out the nasty nick i put in it. Never re-bored, and re-used old piston. Had it tuned up good. No front brakes, or shocks, or suspension, which may account for light weight. That thing FLEW. It easily went 20MPH. Despite the complete lack of safety features, it was a blast and the kids loved riding it. It was quite tiny.

I guess the size, weight and features on the new stuff = a bit slower.

 

My neighbor has a 20 year old lt 50... the engine is still strong, my boy and his raced them, his had more power in the take off...it even spinned the tires!!! My boys was slower in the take off but down the dirt road he caught up with him. I hope ours will be as reliable as my neighbors. But it is possible to hit 20 mph on a lt50, i was riding with my son on one of our trails, and the speedo on the 2004 arctic cat was reading approximately 20 mph, if not 20 it was easily between 15-20 mph. as i stated the look on his face you would have thought he was doing 50mph...hehehe!


I would like to start a mini-atv club here in the texas panhandle for 90cc and below!!!! Just for basic rides and parades and such.

 

put a good gps in your hand and you will get the actual top speed.
