Long travel Rear suspension conversion
#1
Just thought I would throw this out for any one interested.
I have long sence been amazed at how much better my 2000 scrambler rode over my 1999.
As many of you know in 2000 polaris added 2" of rear travel to the scramblers
(Also added it to all TrailBlazer in 2003 model year.)
It took me about a year but I had finally got a Rear shock and swing arm (I LOVE EBAY)
A rear shock and swing arm from a 2000-to-current scrambler will bolt on any 1999 and prior scrambler/sport GEN 3.
This should also be true for any Gen 3 PRE 2003 TrailBlazer.
I finished up the conversion tonight, only thing that you may not have ( I DIDN"T) to do the conversion is a 1 3/4 " socket to remove the swing arm to frame bolts. I just bought a 21 pc. 3/4 socket set from harbor freight tools for only $34.00. Now I have up to 2".

Wait til you get some serious trail time on the machine, you'll like it even more. Back when I did that, and added the HPD custom rear shock, it was as close to a magic carpet ride as you could find. Sigh, now due to a drag race conversion, that shock gathers dust. Anyone interested, feel free to PM me.

So in camparison, what is the difference between the shocks and the swing arm?

You know I was going to take pictures of each new and old swing arm and shock but didn't.
The 2000 swing arm may be a little lighter, (Not much, It has different plates on the outside ), The shock mount is located farther back so the longer shock will fit
The 2000 shock is about 3" longer and has 2 springs with different loads (the short one at the top is what gives that "cushee" ride.
I have had ride time on my 2000 so I new for trailriding it would be worth my time to convert my 99 model.
The Fox shock from a 99 and prior scrambler is also a great update to a pre-2003 Trailblazer, bolts right on.
