Sorry for the kinda stupid question, but what exacly is the Sportsman HO. I searched throught the posts but didnt get exacly what it is, is it brand new, but on guy said he has a 99 HO.

H.O. means high output. Scrambler 500's have had the H.O. for a few years now. And Polaris is making a Sportsman H.O. for 2001.
The high output is the same 499cc engine as on the standard Sportsman, only it has a different cam, and larger carburator. Which of course makes for more power. Hence the name High Output.

 

The motor is also beefed up to handle the extra horse-power.

 

It also has a stronger crank.

 

I have a question. Isn't polaris and H.O. in the same sentence an oxy moron? I didn't think polaris could make anything faster than 110cc ATC.
