warrior chain making a nasty noise help please

Default warrior chain making a nasty noise help please

i just put a new chain on my 2000 yamaha warrior and now it is making a nasty metel on metel noise but only when i gas it .. it think its form chain whip but im not sure where ne one have nething that might help me. thanx

2 things, have you correctly set the chain tension, the Yamaha system leaves a lot to be desired,make sure you get it even side to side, or alignment problems could make some noise,or if it is too loose, it will flap around a lot. The other thing is, how do the sprockets look? usually when the chain is bad enough to replace,it is time for new sprockets. The pitch of the teeth is very critical to good chain life, worn sprockets may not be lining up on the new chain correctly, and causing them to ride on the edges, instead of the valleys in the sprocket. One extra thing I forgot, if the new chain is too tight, and your axle bearings are worn, that could cause some noise,too.

thanx i think my chain might be too tight but i mean its a nasty noise like nothing ive ever heard it sounds like u know thouse little fire crackers u thorough on the ground and they snap it sounds like that but 20 times louder so i donno it rides fine other than the noise though
thanx ill try to loosen it

I would definately check the axle bearings, take the chain off, put the rear up on a stand, and spin the back tires as fast as you can, if you hear a metallic or rattling noise with no chain on, replace the bearings ASAP to avoid any axle or carrier damage.
